Skip Waiting Times on File Sharing Sites
By lain
If you use file sharing sites, you're probably tired of having to click your way through the nag pages and waiting before you can download a file. I was.
I've been an avid user of Rapidshare and MegaUpload for the last few months, and found these screens and waiting time very annoying. Yet I didn't feel like paying to get a Rapidshare Premium or MegaUpload Premium account. I managed to hack the MegaUpload waiting time by myself using GreaseMonkey. It was very simple and worked for me like a charm.
I've also tried to hack Rapidshare, but it turned out much more difficult, if doable at all.
A bit of googling revealed a free partial solution to my problems...
SkipScreen
This free Firefox add-on skips the annoying screens and waiting times for you. According to the authors, the latest version supports the following sites:
- Rapidshare
- zShare.net
- MediaFire
- Megaupload
- Sharebee
- Depositfiles
- Sendspace
- Divshare
- Linkbucks
- Uploaded.to
- Link-protector
I've been using SkipScreen for a month now and had a very good experience with the file sharing sites I use most often - MegaUpload and Rapidshare.
With MegaUpload, its action is very simple - it skips the 45 second waiting time, and starts the download immediately.
They're currently working on skipping the Megaupload captcha.
With Rapidshare, it's not possible to skip the waiting, but the add-on still saves you time.
When Rapidshare makes you wait, SkipScreen does the waiting for you. It knows how long you have to wait, displays a countdown timer in your browser, and starts the download immediately as soon as the server allows it.
Pros
- Skips the clicking and waiting to save you time and hassle
- Where it's not possible to skip the waiting, it does the waiting for you and starts the download while you're away from your computer
- Maintained and up-to-date with the latest changes to the supported sites
Cons
- Displays a pop-up ad occasionally

You're welcome, Kimberly, I'm glad you find it useful.
Kirby - I'll check it out, thanks.
does it stop the download limit on megaupload rapidshare?Other alternative for that if you have a router reset thhe IP Adress
It did bypass the Megaupload limit until they changed around recently. On Rapidshare it does the waiting for you and starts the download automatically.
